Emma and Addie
I was at my in-laws' the other day. Addie was fussing, so I grabbed a few things to distract her. I was supposed to be making lunch, but I glanced over and saw this
Emma is the *best* dog! She sits there looking cute all day without eating, shedding, destroying things, or making messes. She's also really good with the kids. They chew on her, use her as a hammer, and sometimes throw her down two flights of stairs onto a cement floor, but she doesn't mind a bit. Good dog. :)
Hush, Little Baby
1. My Sweet Banana has turned into a pickle. A sour dill one. Teething is just no fun.
2. It's time to mow the "lawn" again.
3. I want to crawl back into bed and sleep for eight beautiful hours straight. Ok, four. I'd settle for four. Two? One?
4. Set a guard, oh Lord, over my mouth. Keep watch over the door of my lips. Psalm 141:3
5. I am far too opinionated about things which I have little knowledge of. See #4.

Tizzy
No new photos today. What is this blog coming to??? I haven't had time to edit anything from last week.
Here's a quick five things:
1. Freshly baked bread smells wonderful.
2. My headaches have been plaguing me again. I'm pretty sure it's a combination of stress, lack of sleep, and the humidity. Last week I began taking Sport every morning before breakfast as a preventative measure. So far it seems to be working. It does help to cut the pain after a headache comes on, but sometimes I end up throwing it up because of the heightened sensitivity to smells and tastes.
3. The baby is still a bit feverish today. I think it's her teeth, poor lamb.
4. Emmy and Joshy are playing together exceptionally well today. Ah! Peace!
5. Life was so much simpler when I was a kid. This year, I feel like I have reached "grown-upness". I guess it's about time.

4 of us
I wanted to get some creek shots of the girls in their www.scarletstitch dresses and it turned into an impromptu session of the 4 of us. I gave my sisters a crash course in manual and handed over my camera. They did a great job! Tam took this one.

Patience
There are little fish in the creek. Joshy's plan was to knock one out with a rock and then take it home and put it with Blue Fish.
Sweetness is...
my darling girl sleeping. She played herself out at the creek yesterday.
5 random things I'm thankful for:
1. My family: immediate and extended. I praise God for all of them and how he's used each one as a sanctifying influence in my life.
2. Shoes. It peeves me that they never stay orderly on the rack, but it would be a pain to walk everywhere without them.
3. Christian fellowship. It's hard to go it alone in this world.
4. Running water.
5. My thumbs. Shawn's mom sent Emmy a book about hands and it contained a challenge to try to do things without using your thumbs. I didn't get far. They are a blessing indeed.

5 things Thursday
2. It's going to be another hot one today. It's almost 80 degrees out there already.
3. Must send the Samaritan packet in! Don't let me forget! haha You see how that works? It's now your fault if I don't get it done.
4. I've been thinking quite a bit about what it means to be in the world, but not of it. Jesus said in John 3:5, "As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world." I know we aren't supposed to fit in with the world, but what does that look like in every day life? Do I truly stand apart? Am I really shining out there? How about in my own home with those who watch and hear me when my hair is down? How about when nobody is around? I read a quote once:
"Character is who you are when nobody is looking."
Somebody sent this post for me to consider. It encouraged me and I hope it will do the same for you.
5. I hit a roadblock with Joshy's lessons this morning. He says he doesn't want to learn to read until he's 25. I didn't want to push him since he seemed tired and distracted, so I sent him to bed. School time is a privilege for him. He gets to stay up an extra 20 - 30 minutes if he's willing to give me his best effort. Have any of you moms been through this? Have you got any advice?

5 things Wednesday
2. I love sunshiney days. We're heading to the creek as soon as the kids are up.
3. I have the best mother-in-law. She still has not completely recovered from her surgery, but she's already trying to ease my workload. Her thoughtfulness is a gentle rebuke to my selfish heart.
4. I'm currently reading the grand debate between the Westminster Assembly Presbyterians and Independents. It's a difficult read, but interesting.
5. I could really go for another spoon of Nutella. :)
Wass
We're going through 'Teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons'. He thought he could skip ahead about 36 chapters this morning.
"wwwwwwwwwaaaassss. Momma, thith is wass. See? I can read!"
"Wouldja wike to smell my breff?"
Apparently working men are a bit lax in the personal hygiene department.
Thank-you, Auntie Jody for this gem of a trick.
The Lip
She was giggling hysterically at her brother so I asked her to close her lips for one sec.
Yup. That ought to do it.

5 things...or ten
I feel very much impeded by my self-consciousness when it comes to all things grammatical, but I'm going to try to write on here a bit more. I'll start with 5 things every day. Maybe. If I can. Note my commitment! :)
I feel like I always have to make a disclaimer before writing or speaking these days, so here it is:
These are only things running through my mind. I represent myself only. If you perceive that I'm trying to send a message to you or anyone else, please email me for clarification. I am open to correction. I don't imagine that I have all the answers.
1. I'm so thankful that I don't have to hand wash diapers in a cold creek.
2. I miss you, Kathryn. Call me?
3. I accidentally dropped a gallon jar full of wheat on the floor this morning. Memo to self: make sure the lid is secure before you lift the jar. I'm still finding wheat berries everywhere.
4. It's a rainy sort of day here. Rather dark and glum.
5. I may delete this post before the day is out. I'm flaky like that.
An afternoon at Mommom and Papa's
This is from May when my son (with the hat) was still 3. The fella with him is his best cousin. The best and the coolest. If he jumped off a cliff, Joshy would surely jump too. It's a bond like that.
Today, Joshy had his third reading lesson. He said "ssssaaaaa" and then looked up at me and proclaimed, "Thath's what ssssaaaddle and ssssaaabbath begin with! Remember to keep the ssssaaabbath ho-wee!" :)

"May peas eat diss bewwy?"
Translation: "May I please eat this berry?"
It's nice how kids ask for permission *while* they're doing something.
Tam
This is my sister Tammy. I love going for walks with her because on top of being a good conversationalist, she also carries my baby so I can snap away at will.

I give you Exhibit A
An outtake - I thought it was so sweet that he wanted to kiss her cheek! But then? It just went wrong. Maybe he accidentally kissed a wisp of her hair. Perhaps, his inner fear of girl cooties got to him at the last second. Or maybe Adeline is clawing his neck with her pinky nail. She's got mad skillz in the clawing and pinching department.
My favouritest kids in the whole wild world.
My own. :)
I've been trying to get a decent shot of all three of them together since Addie was a few weeks old, but it's always an exercise in futility. The outtakes are worth the effort though. After I'm over the frustration at my inabilities, I have good chuckle over them.

7 months
I love this basket. It's as old as the hills - loaded with great texture. Too bad she hates it in there. :P :)
I might re-process this one. I'm not crazy about my conversion today.
"I shabbin, Mama!"
When it's hot, I put a little cold water in the tub for the kids to run in and out of. When I heard Emmy calling out that she was shaving, I ran to the bathroom to see if she'd somehow managed to scale the shower and get her hands on my razor. Thank the Lord, she was using this measuring spoon instead.

Very Boy - Very Girl
We played in the cold creek for hours yesterday. Bliss! I wish this was better. It's difficult to shoot from a good angle with Adeline in her sling.

Daddy's Girl
I love this on so many levels. Last week I took more snaps of Josh than I have our entire marriage. He's an elusive one so I was forced to be sneaky. :)

Love You Forever
Emmy wanted to rock Adeline and sing her the little song from the book 'Love You Forever' so I grabbed my camera. Addie's awake. She was just soaking it up. :)

"Ooo, that tickles."
This one is from last week. I want to go back there and get something better one of these nights.
I'm sorry I haven't been posting more regularily. I'm so bored of posting the same old thing, but too lazy to resize snapshots. We're all fine though. Very warm, but fine. :)
Swimming
It was so hot and humid today. As soon as my husband got home, we gulped down our dinner and headed to the creek. Joshy is four now and is determined to learn this swimming stuff. He had so much fun!
I find it a little frustrating to bring the camera along because I always have Adeline in her sling and I can't move around as easily, but I'm so glad I had it with me tonight.
