This is Spring but we call her Bessie Dearrrrest (roll those r's like a good Cranfordite). Our wonderful neighbors have given her to us on loan until our cow comes home next month. She eats our 5 ft grass down and we milk her in exchange for all of the milk we can drink (cream too!). She is the sweetest thing, so patient and gentle even with all my kids milling around her and practicing their milking. *pinch, squeeze*
Yesterday I moved her to a new grazing area and when I peeked out an hour later there was no sign of her. Sick in the pit of stomach at the thought of losing the neighbors' cow, I hoisted Lizzie on one hip and went in search. I looked on both sides of the chicken coop - no cow. What a relief to finally see her nose sticking out of the window! An hour later, a wild thunderstorm hit. The smart girl was taking cover in preparation. :)
