24 weeks
Via Flickr:
My baby will be 24 weeks this Thursday. :D Let's pretend that I'm not hunched over, I fixed my hair, put on some make up, and cleaned my room, k?
Yes, this is #6.
I don't know the gender.
No, I'm not Mormon, nor am I trying for the Guinness Book. We just like kids and are always happy to welcome another one.

Art Class
Via Flickr:
We have collected a number of pastels over the summer and fall, so it was high time to play with them. Having no familiarity with pastels, we looked up a couple of tutorials on y tube and went to work. The pictures on the right were done on day 1, the pictures on the left on day 2. The kids (even the non-artsy one) can't wait to start on the next one. I think we'll try something snowy.

Squishy face - sooc (who has time for editing?)
Via Flickr:
It's been four months. Five? I don't know. Let's just go with "awhile".
We are well and busier than ever. I hope the approaching winter months will afford time for summer photos and updates.

Walter: "I not a boy dis mornin. I'n a lellow baby fox!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Walter, on a dead run for the potty: "I haf go bad-wee!" Halfway down the hall he tooted, came to a standstill and said, "Oh. I don't haf go bad-wee now. My bum changed my mind."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Walter likes to compose songs. His three latest hits have been:
1. 'Dog in the Way'
"I don' know why I an sayeen diss.
I don' hab a weason.
Dooooog in a waaaaaaay!
Doooooog in a waaaaaaaay!"
2. 'Best Dog'
"You da best dog on my gaaawwbage twuck..."
3. 'On the Sidewalk'
"It is so bad to peeeee on da sidewalk.
You should nebber do diss, even if it's fun."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Me: "Kids, have any of you seen Walter? Walter? Walter! Where are you?"
Walter(from under my bed): "hehehe! I an hiking (hiding) under you bed, Mom! Shhh."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Addie (4): "Oh Lizzie, you are such a charmer."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Addie: "Auntie Jenni, why do you have two earrings in your ears?
Jen: "Oh, it's just what girls do sometimes."
Addie: "That's what I'M gonna do when I get big!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In reference to our meat chickens:
Emmy(6): "Aww, the poor birds. We'll have to butcher them soon.
Addie: "LOOK at ALL that MEAT just walkin' around!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Josh(8): "I think weed-whacking might be helping me, Mom. See? Last night I could put my fingers all the way around my muscle, and now my fingertips don't even touch."
I won't be trusting a testimonial from him any time soon. :)
Hide-out
Via Flickr:
This is Spring but we call her Bessie Dearrrrest (roll those r's like a good Cranfordite). Our wonderful neighbors have given her to us on loan until our cow comes home next month. She eats our 5 ft grass down and we milk her in exchange for all of the milk we can drink (cream too!). She is the sweetest thing, so patient and gentle even with all my kids milling around her and practicing their milking. *pinch, squeeze*
Yesterday I moved her to a new grazing area and when I peeked out an hour later there was no sign of her. Sick in the pit of stomach at the thought of losing the neighbors' cow, I hoisted Lizzie on one hip and went in search. I looked on both sides of the chicken coop - no cow. What a relief to finally see her nose sticking out of the window! An hour later, a wild thunderstorm hit. The smart girl was taking cover in preparation. :)
Sheet Day
She likes to help me change the sheets. Her job is to look sweet while I bury her in pillows.
Come Fly With Me
Greg taking flight.
Texture provided by ... a dirty sensor? Could that be the reason I keep getting error 99?
All Five
Via Flickr:
My kids made this painless. They would do anything, you see, for their Daddy, and Father's Day is coming up. :)
Love my babies
Via Flickr:
Another one from January. My son snapped it when he was supposed to be taking pictures of his latest lego creation. Though I wish I'd looked a bit more together that day, I love how natural it is.
THIS! THIS IS THE BEST GRASS EVER!
Via Flickr:
:D
1. Not much sleep between Addie and Lizzie last night. I'm going to give them a glass of wine before bed if they don't cut it out.
2. In the middle of the night a pack of coyotes came to get our chickens. They were yapping so loudly that I thought they must be close, so I woke up Captain Shotgun and he went out to investigate. Unfortunately, for drama's sake, the coyotes had already lit out.
3. My hip is still bothering me but I'm going to clean the windows today if it kills me. They look like they're frosted! Some of it is condensation between the old panes, but I see a mass of child-sized finger prints as well.
Happy!
Via Flickr:
Dear Red Channel,
Why must you blow out so easily? Don't you know that you ruin perfect photos with your finicky nature?
sooc- not going to bother to edit - just wanted to share one that I love inspite of it's imperfections.
Workin' together
Via Flickr:
They were helping me move river rock last week. After a great effort to use our man-sized shovels, they resorted to using their hands. Remarkably, nobody was hit upside the head with the ones that Walter was winging.
For being sweet
Via Flickr:
The girls have been getting along swimmingly lately. On Saturday, Addie burst into my room, a ball of excitement, and announced, "Mom! Emmy gave me her diarrhea - FOR KEEPS!"
In her hands she held Emmy's old blue diary. :)
Fun? No?
Via Flickr:
I thought you would love sitting amongst the dandelions, watching the cows from afar. Well never mind then. Let's go inside and throw food on the floor instead, hmm?
Bedhead
Via Flickr:
All of my girls wake up with fantastic hair. Mine? Limp and scraggly with a fantastic lump in just the wrong place. They must have picked up some good hair genes from their daddy.
Fill me with sweeet sugary goodness.
Gregory made this sweet little slideshow of Lizzie too:
He's pretty creative with that camera of his.
Bella was a baby
Via Flickr:
This one's from back in February. Bella is Jake's sweet, independent, lick you to death in a rapid, snake-like fashion sister. She's Ann's pup. I couldn't have resisted either.
One of these days...
Via Flickr:
he's gonna bite his own tongue off. Most intense tummy rubber ever. He does give a great neck rub though if you can catch him with clean hands. ;)
This is how I'll remember year two.
Via Flickr:
He is so full of exuberance.
Yesterday he said to me, "I'n a big tiger! And Joshy is a CHEETO!"
The Look
Via Flickr:
"I'm so hot and tired, Mom; have you no pity?"
That one. :)
She was helping me haul river rock yesterday and did a fine job of it. I'm so thankful for such willing helpers.
Sleepyhead
Asleep on Auntie Annie's hand. :)
She usually fights sleep, but the sickness wiped her right out.
Hazy April
Via Flickr:
Joshy took this one. He doesn't know how to back button yet. :)
Jammies all day and kids either sacked out on me or zoning in front of 'The Fox and the Hound' for the 23rd time.
Whoooooooop! Cough, cough,gag.
Via Flickr:
Thank the Lord, soon this will be just an unpleasant memory. The kids are all feeling energetic again and, for the most part, are sleeping peacefully through the night. A, there on the left, was the hardest hit and is having the slowest recovery. The night before last, I counted how many times she awoke gasping for air - 37. Last night? Only once. What a difference a day can make.
Though this has been a trial, I must give thanks. God has shown mercy to us in that none of the children had to be hospitalized, I didn't get sick myself, and He held back my migraines (often triggered by a lack of sleep) during the entire duration of the sickness so I could care for the children without impediment.
The sun is shining, the birds are singing, the trees are beginning to push forth their new leaves, and it's good to be alive. :)
by that sweet little face, Joe is actually a tiny man-eating tiger. Anybody want him?
